Iron Maiden Studios

Iron Maiden Studios is a custom metal fabrication team comprised of Asheville natives Tina Councell and Kayla Councell. Established in 2008, the married female team operates a design studio and metal fabrication shop in Alexander, NC.

The duo founded their business in the heart of the River Arts District renting a large portion of the iconic Wedge building where Tina worked for sculptor John Payne. Tina and Kayla started working together in 2010. Kayla discovered Tina through an internship program as she was pursuing her passion in mechanical engineering and machining. They worked in the River Arts District until they broke ground for their own private studio in 2020.

As established artists and fabricators in the region, they have a large portfolio of custom projects, including public art, city bus shelters, private residence architectural iron, commercial restaurant build outs, and custom furniture. As an all in one design studio and metal fabrication shop, Iron Maiden Studios takes pride in creating unique and innovative designs that are tailored to each client's needs.

Kayla and Tina have had the privilege of collaborating with prestigious hotels, city boards, and other organizations to create works of art that capture the essence of their unique brands and identities. By carefully listening to the needs and vision of each partner, the Iron Maidens have developed a reputation for creating dynamic and engaging pieces that resonate with a diverse range of audiences.

Working in their private studio, Tina and Kayla have access to a range of specialized equipment and tools that allow them to create truly unique and one-of-a-kind pieces. From cutting-edge digital software to handcrafted elements, Tina and Kayla combine traditional techniques with modern technology to push the boundaries of their craft.

In addition to their impressive portfolio of custom work, Iron Maiden Studios has provided internships for college students, helping to inspire the next generation of metal fabricators.

The newest business endeavor is a production line of cooking machines as well as interior and exterior metal decor. With a commitment to quality and craftsmanship, Tina and Kayla bring their passion for metalwork and design to every project they undertake.
