Meredith Tibjash

Owner/Instructor | they/them

Meredith received their BFA in 3D Studies, focusing on jewelry and metalsmithing, from Bowling Green State University in 2010. Seeking further experience, Meredith participated in the work-study and studio assistant program at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, and was an artist in residence at Touchstone Center for Craft and the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, UK. Their 6+ years of experience working in early childhood education helped them build the Junior Sparks program - metalsmithing for kids age 9-14. Meredith is passionate about metalsmithing and creating a strong, inclusive community around it.

Nora McMullen

Studio Manager/Instructor | she/her

Nora brings over a decade of experience to the role of Studio Manager at Torched. She learned the jewelry trade while living in Austin, Texas, during a five-year apprenticeship with goldsmith Steve Kriechbaum. It was here that she observed how to control metal with heat, and gained some excellent stonesetting skills. Now, Nora designs and creates her own line of jewelry in her studio in the mountains of Asheville.

Nora has been teaching metalsmithing since 2015, and is passionate about passing the skills she has come to love so much on to anyone who wants to learn. “Every student brings a new story and fresh outlook to the studio, keeping us invigorated and always moving forward. It is incredibly rewarding to see that spark light up inside when it all clicks into place and they 'get it'! I am honored to be a part of that process.”
