Urban Earth Ceramics

Ashley Howe of Urban Earth Ceramics has had a passion for making ceramics for over 20 years now, and the creative urge to make art has been a central driving force her entire life. Growing up in a small coastal town in California with not much entertainment besides art-making, she found herself piecing together driftwood huts on the beach, building sculptures from found objects in the woods, and spending afternoons experimenting with paint and collage. When she finally discovered the magical world of clay as a teenager, a whole new universe of play and experimentation opened up to her.

In 2019 Ashley decided to become a full-time maker, transforming her passion for clay into Urban Earth Ceramics. She currently designs and creates one-of-a-kind, hand-painted ceramics from her home studio in the mountains of Western North Carolina. She is thrilled to offer others functional art pieces to add more character, joy and intention to their everyday lives while continuing her exploration of clay.
